These six house with large gardens were the first “Council Houses” to be built in the village. On 21 May 1921, Melbourn Rural District Council acquired a plot of land 1 acre 2 roods in extent, part of Church Farm, from the Executors of John Jarman dec’d. More about the history of this land may be found under Church Farm.

By 1922 the first tenants had moved in and interestingly included a retired tenant farmer and a retired shopkeeper.

No 25  Purchased from the South Cambridgeshire District Council on 12 February 1996 by the tenants Anthony Trevor John Gilbert and Hazel Ann Gilbert. The conveyance included a provision as to boundary structures and by a Deed dated 22 January 2003 between 1 Anthony Trevor John Gilbert and Hazel Ann Gilbert and 2 Nigel Patrick Crawford and Sharon Jayne Law the southern boundary of No 25 was re-defined. Acquired by Simon Mark Berry and Vicky Williams on 25 April 2003.

No 27  Purchased from the South Cambridgeshire District Council on 26 May 1989 by the tenants Edna May Stimson and others. The conveyance included a provision as to boundary structures and by a Deed dated 22 January 2003 between 1 Nigel Patrick Crawford and Sharon Jayne Law and 2 Anthony Trevor John Gilbert and Hazel Ann Gilbert  the northern boundary of No 27 was re-defined. Owned from October 2003 by Nigel Patrick Crawford.

No 29  Purchased from the South Cambridgeshire District Council on 10 May 1982 by the tenant Reginald Edwin Rogerson and transferred to Barbara Alice Rogerson in October 1994.

No 31  Purchased from the South Cambridgeshire District Council on 22 November 1999 by the tenants Trudy Cakebread and Nicholas Kinns and in October 2001 transferred to sole name of Nicholas Kinns.

No 33  Purchased from the South Cambridgeshire District Council on 23 April 1982 by the tenants Robert George Smith and Linda Smith.

No 35  Purchased from the South Cambridgeshire District Council on 1 August 1986 by the tenants Hilda Ellen Pitt and David John Christopher Pitt. Acquired by Felice Bragoli and Lynda Bragoli 17 December 2007.
