This website has emerged from a project begun in 1978 to reconstruct all the families, who have ever lived in this parish. The end point was probably envisaged as one huge Steeple Morden family tree! It was driven by a desire to absorb the history of the parish through the people and their lives, rather than a more traditional history of things. After all, churches, chapels, farms, houses, pubs, schools, mills, bridges and roads do not build themselves, people do that and it is use by people that gives them life.
