Theobalds Family Tree
An extensive family in Steeple Morden from at least 1597 until 1891. One branch lived and tenanted land at North Brook End. Another main residence was in Brook End and this is arrowed in the aerial image above. Today it is Glendale, No 9 Brook End. Various members who moved away maintained contact with the village. Occupations included farmers and tradesmen: carpenters, bakers and tailors.
The family name was also written as Tibbles and variants. Tibbles was typically the spoken form. Dybole and variants are in origin the same name. Henry Dyboll baptised in 1630 son of William is an example, although his five older brothers and sisters were baptised Theobald(s).
