108, 110, 112 & 114 Station Road, Odsey
In November 1975 Christopher Maddox Fordham submitted two planning applications in respect of a plot of land north and west of The Railway Inn, later know as The Jester. The plot fell into OS parcels 321 and 326. There were two applications. One for six detached houses, which was refused and the other for four detached houses, which was approved. Most of the plot fell within Penny Loaf Hill or Field, which the Fordham family had owned since 1793, having acquired it as part of the Odsey Estate. A portion of the south end of the plot may have been part of a small area of land acquired from Cheyney Manor after the railway was built in 1850.
With the four house planning permission, the bulk of the land was sold on 1 February 1977 by Odsey Estate Co Ltd to Layston Developments Ltd, except an area in the south east corner was sold on the same day by Christopher Maddox Fordham and a further small part by Christopher Jeremy King Fordham and John Rupert Fordham on 30 September 1977. The different ownerships may be explained by the old Cheyney land being held apart from the original Odsey Estate.
The four houses were built both sides of a spur road off Station Road, which continued the same name. Thus the houses became 108, 110, 112 and 114 Station Road, within the sequence already established.
