Two plots for new houses were taken from a pasture field known as Cinquefoil Close, which lay to west and north of the Church Farm homestead and extended originally to 4a 1r 33p, but an initial plot had been taken in 1936 for Gravenhurst, 5 Church Farm Lane. Cinquefoil covers a variety of flowering plants, some of which were suitable for grazing and there was also cinquefoil hay. The field layout in 1839 is shown on the Tithe Map extract below and the plots taken for 5, 9 and 11 are indicated in yellow.

Planning permission for two four bedroom houses with garages was applied for in 1973 by Titan Securities Ltd of Stevenage. The shareholders appear to have been Derek George Foster & John Michael Hope, although on 21 March 1975 ownership of appears to have been in sole name of Hope. The houses were completed in 1976 or 1977.
