Sale Family

Alfred Sale was born at Hinxworth, Hertfordshire on 20 March 1889, son of William and Harriet nee Bryant. His father was a market gardener.

Alfred married Rose Jarman daughter of Jesse and Sophia nee Wilmott 22 November 1913 and moved to Steeple to live with his in laws at Tucks Cottage, 25 The Green. They had two children and Rose died 1918. Alfred bought the house next door, today 23 The Green, in 1921 and remarried to Emma Randall in 1922. They had two further children.

The family continued to live at 23 The Green. Alfred died 1951 and his youngest child Robert William born 23 May 1926 died 2005, which ended the family’s association with Steeple Morden, although members lived at Abington Pigotts, Shingay and other locations not that far away.
